Signed commitment to the largest wind farm planned in Europe
Ahead of implementation in Albania by the Sicilian group Moncada, the largest wind farm ever designed in Europe, with a power of 500 MW, south and south-east of Vlora, and the submarine interconnection line (merchant line) in DC between the transmission network Italian and Albanian capacity of 500 MW, with 1 billion and 200 million euros represent the largest investment of all Albania.
The entrepreneur Salvatore Moncada, a leading Italian producers of wind power today in Tirana, capital of Albania, signed the declaration of commitment to start work as soon as possible, in exchange for an authorization dell’iter reached the final phase.
The ceremony took place under the official visit of Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, in the presence of the latter and Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha and other Albanian authorities.
During the ceremony with the President, other Italian entrepreneurs operating in Albania have similar agreements.
On this occasion Salvatore Moncada is committed, in particular, to open yards in the first half of 2009, to ensure the recruitment of qualified staff resident in the municipalities affected by the project, to secure the cooperation of local businesses, and in addition, if possible intergovernmental agreement for the management of the Italy-line merchant that Albania is undergoing refinement.
The ceremony was followed by a meeting at the residence of the Italian Embassy in Albania, Saba D’Elia, at which Hon. Silvio Berlusconi has personally met Italian businessmen operating in Albania to discuss ongoing projects.
The vice-president of Confindustria Sicilia, Giuseppe Catanzaro, commented: ‘It is for us cause for deep pride that a Sicilian businessman at the highest level as Moncada has been so well positioned in the international arena with investments in various countries around the world and has achieved this consideration by the Italian and Albanian governments through international challenges that could win.
